Lynch Creek Trailhead


Area Status: Open

Lynch Creek Trailhead provides access to Buffalo Peaks Wilderness via the Rough and Tumbling Trail #617. Hikers may also enjoy walking the Salt Creek Trail #618 which skirts the wilderness area boundary also making some sections acceptable for mountain bikers.

Although the wilderness is open to foot traffic year-round, be aware that Forest Roads 432, 431, 433, 435 and 436 are seasonally closed for elk calving from Jan. 1 - June 15.

While this area is open to foot traffic year-round, the access roads are closed from January 1st - June 15th each year for elk calving.


Directions:

From Fairplay travel south on US 285 for about 12 miles to Forest Road 431 and turn right.  Follow this road for seven miles miles to the trailhead at the end of the road.
