Murphy Trailhead


Area Status: Open

This Trailhead provides access to the Companion Trail (19 miles) and the Santa Fe National Historic Trail (23 miles). Interpretative signs provide history of both trails. Accessible horse mounting facilities are available. There is also a restroom and a well with a hand pump. These trails are for non-motorized travel only, giving visitors opportunities to step back in time and see what "travelling the trail" may have been like.

General Information

Directions:

From Elkhart, Kansas, take Highway 27 north approximately 7 miles, cross the Cimarron River Bridge and turn west onto FSR 600. Continue west approximately 5-6 miles. Trailhead is on north side of the road.
