Off Hwy 149 west of Creede

Elevation is 8,800 feet.  16 sites of which 7 are paved pull throughs and 9 are dead end gravel spurs. 

Campground is located adjacent to Colorado Hwy. 149 and the Rio Grande River for easy access to through travelers and over nighters.  It is the closest Forest campground to the town of Creede. There is very little screening or trees in the campground, so any vehicle traffic along Colorado Hwy. 149 is visible. The sun hits most of campground in the late morning, which means cool morning temperatures, but not much afternoon shade.  The road is blacktopped through the campground and some pull-throughs are also paved. Maximum trailer length is 40 feet. The facilities include 16 sites with parking spur, table and fire ring. There is a vault toilet designed for handicapped usage accessible for wheelchairs. The toilet does have a night light. There is no potable water. Garbage cans are centrally grouped and available for use Memorial Day until Labor Day. There is a sink water disposal facility. Campground hosts are stationed here in site 16. Firewood may be purchased through campground host. Campfire programs are presented periodically through the summer. The Rio Grande River is very close and can provide much summer water fun. This is a very popular campground, close to town and is fairly heavily used. Permit Info: 16 sites -7 are pull through sites / $18.00 - overnight.for single, $36.00 - overnight for double.  Spaces handle up to 35 foot RV's.
