Windy Valley Trail #1103B
After hiking the Snow Camp Trail #1103 for 1.6 miles, this short route provides access to the southern end of scenic Windy Valley. A camp site / day use area, with a log bench in memory of Gladys Mann is located at the end of the trail on Windy Creek. Along Windy Creek a variety of wildflowers may be seen in spring and early summer, as well as the unusual insectivorous Darlingtonia California plant.
This trail is located in the Biscuit Fire area that burned in the year 2002. Although Forest Service trail crews have been repairing and maintaining many of the affected trails since the Biscuit Fire, visitors should take into consideration (because of the substantially increased risk of fire-killed snags falling) that travel and camping may be more difficult and require greater concern for safety.
