Watkins Campground


Sites are located on Applegate Lake. There are wheelchair accessible facilities.

Seasonal information: The site is free and open during the off-season as a walk-in site (parking at the gate, and proceeding on foot). No services or water are available during the off-season. Please pack out all trash and remember to Leave No Trace.

General Information


From Jacksonville, OR, travel south for 6.5 miles on Highway 238 to Ruch, OR, and turn left on to Upper Applegate Road (County Road 859). Continue south on Upper Applegate Road for 18 miles to the campground.

Campground Camping

During the off-season, this site is free, and is a "walk-in only" site. People wishing to camp at Watkins during the off-season must park at the gate, and proceed on foot from there.

Please remember to pack your drinking water in and to pack your garbage out, as there is no garbage service in the off-season.
