Black Butte Tie Trail #1273

This trail connects Black Butte Trail #1272 near Lookout Mountain with the East Fork Illinois River Trail #1274 to Young's Valley.  This trail is located in the Siskiyou Wilderness.  The high elevation hike not only offers spectacular views of rugged mountain peaks, it also provides cool relief from hot valley temperatures.  The trail crosses several small creeks between Bear Cub and Polar Bear Mountain's.

Below Bear Cub Mountain the trail ends at an old road that continues on to Young's Valley. From Young's Valley back to the Black Butte Trailhead, and important juncture for the Black Butte Tie Trail can be easily missed as the old road continues southeast up the mountain and the trail juncture is not obviously visible.
