Burro Bridge (649)

Burro Bridge Trail (649) has many switchbacks and makes a steady climb through spruce and aspen forests.  Once the trail evens out a bit, it heads north through open meadows into Lizard Head Wilderness while offering spectacular views of El Diente and Mount Wilson peaks. The trail ends at Groundhog Stock Drive Trail (634). You may continue to the left (south westerly) onto Groundhog Stock Drive Trail (634) for about 4 miles to its terminus at Black Mesa Rd (FS 611). Taking a right or heading to the east at this intersection is not recommended for stock, however, if you are hiking the trail, it will take you to the Navajo Lake Trail (635). Wildlife opportunities include deer, pika, and marmots.

Please note, only primitive forms of travel (hiking and stock animals) are allowed within the wilderness.  Motorized and mechanized transportation, such as hang gliders, bicycles, wagons, and carts are not prohibited.  If you are camping with stock animals, there are two side by side corrals available on a first come basis and are located adjacent to Burrow Bridge Campground.  Livestock is not allowed in the campground.

Water is available for stock in the Tom Akin Reservoir, approximately 1 mi southwest from the junction with Goundhog Stock Drive Trail (634).
