Kelly Creek Flats Camping Area & Trails
The Fairfield Ranger District, in cooperation with the Idaho Department of Parks & Recreation, began work in 2004 to renovate the Kelley Creek Flats Camping Area. The renovations included developing a trailhead at the Kelley Creek trail, installing new restrooms, improving access to roads & trails, and developing a group-use camp site, creating new trails, installing metal fire rings at all campsites, and restoring user-developed routes to their natural state. With the goal of reducing user impacts to the land and vegitation, dispersed camping is allowed only in designated camping sites and fires are allowed only in fire rings. The group use site located on the northwest side of the bridge leading into Baumgartner Campground and Kelley Flats is available for reservations through www.recreation.gov.

Motorized use in Kelley Creek Flats is allowed only on designated roads and trials. The main access trail was improved and signed to provide access to nearby trails and to make it easier to use and enjoy the area. Please respect signs and the following trail guidelines:
~No off-road or cross country travel.
~No moto-cross type activities in the open flats, the gravel pit area, or on the Ponderosa Trail system.
~Help keep youth safe by utilizing the trail system and staying off of the major roadways.
The Ponderosa Trail System is an old road that has been converted to an OHV trail. This trail is designed as a "beginner" loop and provides new OHV riders an area to use and become more experienced in operating their OHV's. Motorcycle routes and ATV routes are incorporated into this trail system.
