Palm Canyon Creek - National Wild & Scenic River
An amazing 8.1 miles of Palm Canyon Creek is designated as a Wild & Scenic River. This creek not only supports the nation's largest fan palm oasis, it also offers critical habitat and water sources for the endangered Peninsular Bighorn Sheep, and the Southwestern Willow Flycatcher, as well as many sensitive songbirds. The trail along the creek is popular for hiking and mountain biking. For additional information also see Palm Canyon Trail 4E01.
Location: The turn-off to the Palm Canyon Trailhead is located 18 miles south/west of Highway 111 or 6 miles east of the Hwy 371 intersection on Hwy 74. Turn north on Pine View Drive. Do not turn north on Palm Canyon Drive, as this will not lead you to this trailhead.
The lower elevation portion of Palm Canyon Creek lies within the Agua Caliente's Indian Canyons Area. This portion of Palm Canyon Creek may also be accessed from South Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs. See https://www.indian-canyons.com/ for additional information.
