Fourmile Lk Rustic Campground & Backcountry Sites


Fourmile Lake Rustic Campground offers four sites accessible by car.  On the shore of the lake are an additional two backcountry campsites accessible by boat.  For information about backcountry campsites, click here.  At the campground is a boat ramp and dock as well as parking for trailers and people using the backcountry sites.

Reservations: This campground does not accept reservations.
Fees: There is no fee at rustic campgrounds.
Restrictions: Maximum of nine people per site.  There is space for one vehicle and one towed vehicle (such as a boat trailer).  Additional vehicles on the site must park on the spur.  No vehicles may park on the grass or where they impede traffic.
Closest Towns: Tofte
Water: No potable water available – lake water must be treated.
Restroom: Outhouse (vault style) at campground, wilderness latrines at backcountry sites

General Information

Directions:

Fourmile Lake Rustic Campground is located about 12 miles northwest of Tofte.

  • From Duluth, follow MN 61 north to just past Schoeder.
  • Turn left (north) onto Forest Road 343.
  • Turn left (west) on FR 166.
  • After one mile, turn right (north) on FR 346.
  • After 5 miles, turn right (east) on FR 170.
  • Drive 2.5 miles northeast

Fourmile Lake Rustic Campground is on the right.


General Notes:

A boat ramp and pier make fishing access easy.  If you're having no luck, you can try Toohey Lake, just a mile further down the road.  

There is no garbage pick up at Fourmile Lake Rustic Campground.  Plan to pack out all your garbage, including fish remains from cleaning fish.

Activities

Campground Camping

  • Please use facilities provided such as fire rings, tent pads, and latrines.
  • Pack out all waste, do not burn paper or other garbage.
  • Water from lakes must be treated, boiled, or filtered before use.
  • Noise limits enforced, respect your fellow campers.

RV Camping

Sites are pull-in and not specifically designed for RVs.  Two of the four sites are longer than 21 feet and may accommodate an RV.

Dispersed Camping
