Sioux-Hustler Trail

The Sioux-Hustler Trail is a 30 mile round-trip hike with a loop. Most of this primitive trail is within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness where permits are required. You will see beautiful scenic views at various trail locations and at Devil's Cascade, which plunges 75 feet through a deep granite gorge below Lower Pauness Lake. Map and compass skills are recommended for users of this trail.

Permit Info:	Permits are required year round for day and overnight travel throughout the BWCAW. For day hikes and overnight hikes from October 1 - April 30, pick up a free self-issue permit at any entry point (trailhead) or any district office. For overnight hikes from May 1 - September 30, learn more about permit basics or go to National Recreation Reservation Service's Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness page for reservation information. General Information

Directions:

The Sioux-Hustler Trail is located northeast of Orr off the Echo Trail (County Road 116).

From Orr, take St. Louis County 23 to Buyck (16 miles)
At Buyck, County 23 turns into County 24. Continue on County 24 for 4 miles to the Echo Trail (County Road 116)
Turn right on the Echo Trail and proceed 17 miles to entry point (trailhead) on left.
