Aspen Group Campground is located on the northeast shore of Jackson Meadow Reservoir. It is surrounded by pine and fir trees. Jackson Meadow Reservoir is a gorgeous high elevation lake with excellent opportunities for boating, canoeing, water skiing, swimming and fishing. Anglers will find rainbow and brown trout. a boat ramp is located at the neighboring Pass Creek Campground. A designated swim beach is nearby. A portion of the Pacific Crest Trail meanders along the east side of the lake. Hunting and biking are popular activities in the surrounding area. Snow pack determines when the campground opens. Utility hookups, showers, telephones and cell phone service are not available at this location.
This campgound offers three group areas. The Spring site can accommodate up to 50 people, while the Hill and Ridge units can accommodate up to 25 people each. Campsites are equipped with picnic tables, grills and campfire circles. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided.

All camping must be in designated campsites within Jackson Meadow Recreation Area. Bears frequent the area; all food must be kept in approved containers. Off-road vehicle use is prohibited within the campground. Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.
A camp store is located on the west side of the reservoir, near the Woodcamp Recreation Area. A variety of camping and fishing supplies, ice, groceries and souvenirs are available. The next closest services are in Sierraville, 11 miles north from Hwy 89 or Truckee, 17 miles south on Hwy 89.

From Bowman Lake: Continue on Bowman Lake Road until you reach the south shore of Jackson Meadow Reservoir (about 5 miles on a rough road). Continue on to North Shore on Forest Road 7.
From Truckee: Drive 17 miles north on Hwy 89. Turn left at Little Truckee Summit on Forest Road 7. Continue 16 miles west to Jackson Meadow Reservoir. Campground is on the north east shore of the reservoir.
From Sierraville: Drive 11 miles south on Hwy 89. Turn right at Little Truckee Summit on Forest Road 7. Continue 16 miles west to Jackson Meadow Reservoir. Campground is on the north east shore of the reservoir.
Elevation: 6,100' 3 sites which can hold up to 25 people and 1 site which can hold up to 50 people located near Jackson Meadow Reservoir. Aspen Group Camp is in Sierra County, California, and is located within the Jackson Meadow Recreation Complex. This group camp has three units. The Spring Unit will accommodate 16 vehicles 10' x 20' or 10 RVs or trailers 10' x 30' and 50 people at one time. The Hill Unit will accommodate 12 vehicles 10' x 20' or 8 RVs or trailers 10' x 40' and 25 people at one time. The Ridge Unit will accommodate 12 vehicles 10' x 20' or 7 RVs or trailers 10' x 40' and 25 people at one time. Restrooms are provided. Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. Prices include all taxes. No all-terrain or off-highway vehicles in the campground. No chainsaw use allowed. Additional fees for extra vehicles will be collected at the campground.
