The Checats Lake trail is 1.1 miles long. It begins at Checats Cove and ends at Lower Checats Lake. The trail follows Checats Creek and lead through an old-growth forest of hemlock, spruce, and cedar. At about .75 mile there are a few short stretches of steep slope with the rest of the trail maintaining a fairly level grade. The trail is comprised of natural tread with brief intervals of rustic boardwalk or bridges. Due to windstorms the trail is not passable until further notice.

Directions: Checats Cove is located in Misty Fiords National Monument. The cove is on the east shore of the Behm Canal, north of Winstanley Island. The trailhead is located near the south shore of the cove, to the left of the creek. The trailhead is accessible by boat or floatplane.
