The Salt Chuck East modified A-frame cabin has an oil heater (#1 stove oil only), sleeping loft, 2 single bunks, wooden table and benches, pit-type outhouse, and rowboat. Life jackets, stove oil, bedding, and cooking utensils are not provided. The area surrounding the cabin is flat and wooded. The cabin is located in the Petersburg Creek-Duncan Salt Chuck Wilderness.

15 air miles (24 km), 40 water miles (64 km) from Petersburg on east side of Duncan Canal Salt Chuck on northern Kupreanof Island.

General Notes:


14' tide needed to reach cabin; rapids south of the Salt Chuck navigable only at high slack tide.  Slack tide is delayed from tide book prediction.
