General Information
Directions: In the center of Admiralty Island, south end of Hasselborg Lake, near the lake outlet. Begins at Hasselborg Creek Cabin in a southerly direction along side Hasselborg Creek. Access by floatplane or canoe/portage. One-way flight time from Juneau is approximately 35 minutes. By canoe and portage, it is approximately 6.5 miles to Mole Harbor. Dispersed Camping
Three sided shelter and additional tent sites are located at the north end of this trail. Water treated with a purifier from Hasselborg Lake.Lake and Pond Fishing

Viewing Plants
Admiralty Island's varied pristine ecotypes provide extraordinary plant viewing along the Hasselborg Creek trail. Temperate rainforest is encountered throughout the journey.Species | Admiralty Island comprises one of the greatest remaining blocks of productive old-growth temperate rain forest in the world. Alpine, tidal marsh and muskeg meadows are some of the other plant communities. The temperate rainforest primarily consist of western and mountain hemlock, Sitka spruce, alder, yellow cedar and shore pine. Forest understory consists primarily of blueberry, huckleberry, salmonberry, thimbleberry, fern, mosses ,devils club, false azalea and dwarf dogwood. |
