Cabin Rentals

Fred’s Creek Cabin is located on an oceanfront, rocky shoreline, with fairly flat terrain, and surrounded by a hemlock-spruce forest. It is located about 6 miles east of Mt. Edgecumbe Volcano (dormant). The 6.7 mile Mt. Edgecumbe Trail starts near the cabin as it winds through muskeg and forest to the cone of Mt. Edgecumbe. Cabin users may encounter tour groups passing by the cabin to access the trailhead for the nearby Mt. Edgecumbe Trail. Cabin is equipped with a single-wide bunk over a double wide bunk downstairs and two single-wide bunks upstairs with floor space for additional persons. Camping within 200 feet of this cabin by anyone other than the person reserving the cabin is prohibited. Suggested USGS topo map: Sitka A-5, A-6 What to bring: Fire starter, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cooking stove, lantern, pots, pans, plates, utensils, food, toilet paper, garbage bags. Rubber boots and raingear are recommended. Water available from Fred’s Creek. Treat all water before using. Better idea is to bring your own water. Mooring buoy available on first-come, first-served basis for boat anchorage. Cabin reservation does not include exclusive use of buoy. The buoy however is exposed to rough water. Local wave action on the beach may make landing dangerous or impossible. It is recommended that boaters avoid approaching the beach and unloading while the tide is turning. Inexperienced boaters or out-of-town visitors are encouraged to use the services of a local charter boat operator Cabin is NOT maintained during the winter. Firewood for the cabin stove may be in short supply or temporarily out at any time of year. Firewood not provided for outdoor campfires, gather only dead and down wood. Accessible year round, weather permitting. Occasionally poor weather can result in extended stays, and cabin users should be prepared for this. Pack out all gear, garbage and food that you bring to cabin. Reservations may be made on the day of arrival or up to 180 days in advance. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1 - September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party October 1 - April 30.

Reservation Info Cabin reservations can be made by calling 1-877-444-6777 (International 518-885-3639 or TDD 877-833-6777) or online at www.recreation.gov. Cabin reservations (check-in & check out time) are from noon to noon.
