Cabin Rentals
Goulding Lake Cabin is located in a flat, lightly wooded area on the northwest shore of Otter Lake. The surrounding terrain varies from open muskegs to densely forested steep slopes. This cabin is located within the West Chichagof-Yakobi Wilderness Area, access by helicopter is illegal. Otter Lake and Goulding Lake (to the east) are connected. Suggested USGS topo map: Sitka D-7. What to bring: sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cooking stove, fire starter, lantern, pots, pans, plates, utensils, food, toilet paper, garbage bags. Rubber boots and raingear are recommended. Guests may want to bring an inflatable water craft to aid in exploring the area. A topographic map of this area is a must for exploration of nearby lakes and high alpine meadows. Water is available from the lake or nearby stream. Treat all water before using. Better idea is to bring your own water. Cabin is not maintained during winter. Firewood for the cabin may be in short supply or temporarily out at any time of year. Firewood not provided for outdoor campfires, gather only dead and down wood. Occasionally poor weather can result in delayed arrivals or extended stays, and cabin users should be prepared for this. Pack out all gear, garbage and food that you bring to cabin. Reservations may be made on the day of arrival or up to 180 days in advance. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1 - September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party October 1 - April 30.

Lake and Pond Fishing
Fishing slow in this area. Cutthroat trout fishing all year below falls and in lower lake (west of cabin). Shallow water areas near inlet streams and shoal areas with underwater logs or cover are the prime locations to catch cutthroat. Open water areas are best fished by trolling with artificial “fish-like” lures. Refer to http://www.adfg.alaska.gov for species, permits and regulations.
