Denver Caboose Cabin
This is a retired railroad caboose along the White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad. The nearby terrain is rugged and brushy, but the trail offers plenty of hiking opportunities. The following is included with the cabin: 4 single bunks, 1 double bunk (total capacity is 6 people), tables and benches, oil stove and tank, cooking counter, food cupboard and shelves, cooler, log book, broom and dustpan, outhouse, rake, shovel and bucket. Water is available from a nearby stream. Treat all water before using. Bring your own sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cooking stove, lantern, pots, pans, plates, utensils, food, toilet paper, garbage bags, fire extinguisher and fire starter. The cabin is heated by an oil stove, and cabin users requiring heat will be responsible for providing their own fuel. The type of fuel necessary is #1 stove oil. Fuel consumption is approximately 1 gallon per day with the stove on low setting (sufficient for 8 hours of heating with an outside temperature of 40 degrees Fahrenheit). Black bears frequent the area. Keep the camp clean.

General Information
Directions: The caboose cabin is approximately 5.5 miles north of Skagway, AK, along the East Fork of the Skagway River. Access is via the White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad starting May 01 and ending September 30. Make reservations at least 24 hours in advance for train transportation. Rate information and reservations are available by calling the railroad at 800-343-7373. From October 01 through April 30 there is no safe access to the cabin and so the cabin is closed during those months. The tracks and the land around them are controlled by the White Pass and Yukon Route (WP&YR) railroad. For public safety, the only available access along the tracks is as a passenger aboard the train during their season of operation. It is WP&YR policy to restrict any other access along the tracks. Cabin Rentals
This site provides cabin camping along a historic rail line used for transporting miners and their gear to the gold fields of the Yukon. The cabin is a reclaimed caboose from the trains used on the rail.
Day Hiking
The Denver Trail is 3.2 miles long. It begins at the East Fork of the Skagway River and ends at the Denver Glacier.
