WRD Mallard Slough Cabin

16' x 16' A-frame cabin with loft, small deck, 2 single bunks, table, benches, wood stove, wood shed, splitting maul. Bedding, cooking utensils, and firewood not provided. The cabin has excellent views of the Stikine River delta. The Mallard Slough trail begins behind the cabin and ends at LeConte Bay. Cabin is located within the Stikine-LeConte Wilderness. 

Guests should provide their own firewood.

Day Hiking

2.7 mile Mallard Slough Trail from cabin to LeConte Bay; minimal surfacing the first 0.4 miles, none thereafter. From cabin, trail goes over forested ridge to grass flats. Trail is marked by wooden posts across flats to LeConte Bay. Waterproof boots recommended.

Game Bird/Waterfowl

Waterfowl hunting on tidal flats during designated season. Check Alaska Department of Fish and Game regulations.

Viewing Wildlife

Moose, black and brown bear, wolves. Good bird viewing during spring and fall migrations of waterfowl and shorebirds. Hawks, owls, bald eagles.

Cabin is a popular stopover for kayakers heading to Wrangell from LeConte Bay.
