Tidepooling
Check the tide tables for minus tides (tides below the zero foot tide). Hike along the rocky beach with rubber boots as there may be some wet muddy areas also. Watch your traction on slippery kelp beds and other sea weeds. Sea life will usually get trapped in depressions in the rocks as the tide recedes. Look for limpets, small hermit crabs, sculpin, sea stars, jelly fish, and anemones.Road Cycling
Auk Village is located close to Glacier Highway. This is the coast road that continues for another 27 miles. About half of that distance has been reconstructed with wide shoulders that are ideal for road cycling. Traffic is fairly light and there are several pull outs along the way with views of Lynn Canal and the Chillkat Mountains. As of November 2011, near the 30-mile marker shoulders are minimal and sometimes non-existent between the road and the guard rail.Difficulty Level: | Easy |
