The Spurt Cove single-level hunter style cabin has oil (#1 stove oil only) and wood stoves, 3 single bunks, 1 double bunk, wooden table and benches, large covered deck, axe/maul, and pit-type outhouse. Firewood is provided for wood stove use only, but is not guaranteed. Stove oil, bedding, and cooking utensils are not provided. The area around the cabin is predominantly sloping, with some steep bluffs.

Directions: Located in Spurt Cove on the north shore of Thomas Bay on the Mainland northeast of Petersburg.

Cabin Rentals

The Spurt Cove single-level hunter style cabin has oil (#1 stove oil only) and wood stoves, 3 single bunks, 1 double bunk, wooden table and benches, large covered deck, axe/maul, and pit-type outhouse. Firewood is provided for wood stove use only, but is not guaranteed. Stove oil, bedding, and cooking utensils are not provided. The area around the cabin is predominantly sloping, with some steep bluffs. Occupancy of Forest Service cabins is by permit only. Reservations may be made up to 180 days in advance.

Salt Water Fishing

King salmon, halibut, and crab fishing in front of the cabin and in Thomas Bay. Check with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game at www.adfg.alaska.gov for the most current regulations.

Viewing Scenery

Beautiful scenery in the Thomas Bay area and access to Baird Glacier.

Boating - Motorized

Thomas Bay can be accessed by boat from Petersburg and offers great views of Baird Glacier and Scenery Cove.

Boating - Non-Motorized

Thomas Bay can be accessed by kayak from Petersburg and offers great views of Baird Glacier and Scenery Cove.
