Cabin Rentals
This cabin, constructed in 1985,and is located on a southeast-facing and flat shoreline of Kruzof Island with tall dense forest of hemlock and spruce trees. It replaced a well worn A- frame cabin built in the 1970's in memory of a former Forest Service district ranger's teenaged son Brent, who, alone with two friends, drowned nearby in Sitka Sound while halibut fishing. Ideal for families on a day or overnight trip from Sitka. Beachcombing, sunbathing, and play in the white sand beach in front of the cabin. Erratic and abnormally large waves have been reported on Kruzof Island at low slack tide. Avoid approaching beach by boat and unloading while tide is turning. Access by float plane is very difficult or impossible. Non-boaters or out-of-town visitors are encouraged to use a local charter boat operator. Weather permitting, this cabin is accessible year around. Suggested USGS topo map: Sitka A-5 What to bring: Fire starter, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cooking stove, lantern, pots, pans, plates, utensils, food, toilet paper, garbage bags. Rubber boots and raingear are recommended. Water available from nearby inlet stream. Treat all water before using. Better idea is to bring your own water. Mooring buoy available on first-come, first-served basis for boat anchorage. Cabin reservation does not include exclusive use of buoy. Cabin is NOT maintained during the winter. Firewood for the cabin stove may be in short supply or temporarily out at any time of year. Firewood not provided for outdoor campfires, gather only dead and down wood. Accessible year round, weather permitting. Occasionally poor weather can result in extended stays, and cabin users should be prepared for this. Pack out all gear, garbage and food that you bring to cabin. Reservations may be made on the day of arrival or up to 180 days in advance. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1 - September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party October 1 - April 30.
