A fishing pier is now open to the public as of August 21, 2017, at the Boulder recreation site.

Many fish-habitat structures were installed in Canyon Lake. This artificial habitat has been strategically placed to enhance fishing on the lake. There are large fish in the lake; 30-pound carp can be found. Canyon Lake has given up a 15 lb state record Largemouth and a world-record 1 lb. 11 oz. YellowBass. Arizona Game and Fish department annually stocks the lake with Rainbow Trout on a monthly basis, November to March.

General Information

Directions:

This site is 15 miles northeast of Apache Junction on State Hwy. 88. From Mesa, take U.S. 60 to the Idaho Exit and go north on Hwy. 88. Prior to reaching the second bridge on Hwy. 88, turn right into the site. The entire route is paved, but it is narrow, with sharp curves and heavy traffic.
