Horseshoe Reservoir and Verde River are nearby. Opportunities abound for water activities such as fishing. This site is located along Verde River and is wooded with large mesquite shade trees. Bald eagles and great blue herons are frequently seen in this vicinity.

Closed from May 15 to October 1, 2016. These sites are closing due to decreased use and to allow resources to be focused around Bartlett Lake and Lower Verde River which are the more highly visited sites during the summer season.
January - December
Stay limit 14 days, CAUTION: Portions of the Verde River are deep. Poor swimmers should use caution. Not recommended for trailers. Use of motorized watercraft on flowing portions of the Verde River is prohibited. No services.
Currently, the Tonto Daily Pass and Tonto Discovery Passes are accepted. When Tonto National Forest installs the fee machines on January 1st, 2017, the campground fees for this site will change and the standard Tonto Passes will no longer be accepted.
The site is 22 miles northeast of Carefree. From Carefree, take Cave Creek Road to Bartlett Dam Road. Turn right and continue for 6 miles to the junction of FR 205 and FR 19. Continue on FR 205 which turns left and becomes an un-maintained, unpaved road to Horseshoe Reservoir. Continue approximately 9 miles more on FR 205, following the route to Horseshoe Reservoir. Camping & Cabins
No services. PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Bury (6-8 inches) human waste at least 200 feet away from camp, trails, water sources, and dry drainages.

Picnicking is permitted at campsites with the use of a Tonto Daily Pass, Tonto Discovery Pass, or America the Beautiful pass.
