Situated within a mixed forest of Ponderosa pine, white and Douglas fir. Trout fishing -- 5 miles to the east of Canyon Creek Canyon Creek Fish Hatchery -- 5 miles east on FR 33. Wildlife includes: Black bear, elk, mountain lion, javelina and deer. No drinking water available.

Stay limit 14 days, trailers under 32', permit required through District office if over 50 people, FR 512 is an unpaved road, bear-proof your camp -- especially food stuff, in the winter, temperatures dip into the teens, a sewage dump facility is located at Ponderosa Campground on Highway 260 located 15 miles easy of Payson and there is a $5 fee. Pack it in pack it out.
Vault toilets, one toilet is equipped with grab bars.
Access #1 (36 miles east of Payson): From Payson, travel 33 miles east on paved State Hwy. 260. Turn right on unpaved Young Road/Forest Road (FR) 512 and continue 3miles to the site.
