Schoolhouse Campground
Located on central Arizona's largest lake, great water recreation opportunities are available to the public at Schoolhouse Campground. Its close proximity to the lake, means that campers at Schoolhouse can enjoy fishing, non-motorized and motorized boating, along with shoreline hiking trails. There are plenty of campsites available at Schoolhouse, providing an easy, quick escape duany time of the year for families and individuals.

Fees: | $20/site/night; $40/site/night for double camp unit; America the Beautiful Interagency Senior or Access Pass holders receive 50% discount (persons over 62 or have a permanent disability) for single camp units only. Campground fees must be paid for at the fee machine located at the campground. |

General Information
Directions:This site is located 11 miles south of the historic Roosevelt Dam. From Mesa: Take the State Hwy. 87/Beeline Highway north for about 60 miles to the junction with State Hwy. 88. Continue on State Hwy. 88 south for 8 miles to Forest Road (FR) 447/Schoolhouse Recreation Site. Turn left and continue for 4 miles to the site.
From Globe: area: Take State Hwy. 188 north for 20 miles to its junction with Forest Road (FR) 447/Schoolhouse Recreation Site, turn right and continue for 4 miles to the site.
Activities
Campground Camping
- 40 camp units (single, and double) with shade ramadas, fire rings with grills, picnic tables, and potable water hydrants.
- Toilets are located throughout the camp loops.
- There is an amphitheater.
- Maximum occupancy per individual camp unit is 10. Maximum occupancy per double camp unit is 20.
- Maximum number of vehicles per individual camp unit is three. Maximum number of vehicles per double camp unit is six. All vehicles must completely fit within the designated parking area.
- Check-in time is 12:00 pm, and check-out time is 10:00 am
