Crawfish Trail #1421

Area Status: Open

The Crawfish Trail follows gains 3,000 feet as it follows spur ridgelines through both old-growth forest and young, vigorous timber stands. It is known as a "way trail" because it was originally constructed as a direct "way" to patrol the forest for fires.

With its jumps, switchbacks, rocky terrain, and steep descents, this rugged trail is a favorite for technical, downhill mountain bikers.

The Crawfish Trail is part of an 11-mile trail loop system connecting with the Knott Trail #1417, the Adams Mountain Trail #1419, and Brice Creek Trail #1403. For a shorter route, this trail crosses over the Dog Creek Road #2263-717 at mile point 1.1 (or the junction of Forest Road 811) and again at mile point 2.5. It also crosses over the Adams Mountain Road 2241 at mile point 7.3.

Detailed trail maps and descriptions can be found in the Cottage Grove Ranger District Recreational Opportunity Guide.
