Elevation gain is 1,480 feet. Major destinations include Clayton Peak. Trail junctions include Lake Mary and Dog Lake Trails. The Clayton Peak Trail takes off from the Brighton Lakes Trail 1/2 mile from the Brighton Lakes Trailhead. The trail enters an area formed from the large glacier that filled the upper part of Big Cottonwood Canyon to Cardiff Fork several thousand years ago. Clayton Peak (also known as Mount Majestic) offers a panoramic view of the Brighton Lakes area, the Wasatch Mountains, the Uinta Mountains, Heber Valley, and Mount Timpanogos. This trail has been reworked with the new Great Western Ski Lift at Brighton. Please be cautious of moose that live in the area. Do not approach any moose you encounter on or near trails. Moose may seem calm and tame, but they are not! Moose are wild and unpredictable. For your own safety, please avoid these animals. Please do not pick any wildflowers. Picking wildflowers prevents them from blooming the following year. Please leave them so that others may enjoy them!
