Shady Campground is a small rustic campground located along the Wild and Scenic Lostine River. Nestled in a 'shady' cool fir and pine tree forest, the campground is popular during the summer for local and regional campers visiting the Lostine Canyon and Eagle Cap Wilderness. This campground is adjacent to the Maxwell Creek Trailhead which climbs into the wilderness.

Single unit campsites = $5.00/night. A self-service fee station is available at the campground. Visitors going into the wilderness for extended trips will need to pay for the multiple nights they occupy a campsite. The Maxwell Creek Trailhead is a separate facility and requires a Northwest Forest Pass. Annual and Day Passes can be obtained before you visit at these websites and locations. You can also use the self-service fee station which is located at the trailhead for purchasing day passes.
All visitors to the Eagle Cap Wilderness must obtain a Wilderness Visitor Permit before entering the area. Only one permit is required per group and there is no fee for the permits. Registration and Permit boxes are located at each trailhead near the information board. The permits are self-issued.

Motorized vehicles, bicycles, carts, hang gliders and other mechanical equipment are prohibited in the wilderness area.

From Enterprise, Oregon travel west on Highway 82 for 10 miles to Lostine, Oregon; In Lostine turn left at Lostine River Road and go 7 miles; The Lostine River Road turns into Forest Road 8210 at Forest Boundary; Continue 10.5 miles on Forest Road 8210; Campground entrance is on right side of road.
