A transformer repair project at the Eugene Water & Electric Board’s Carmen powerhouse will close the primary access road to Trail Bridge Campground & Smith Reservoir beginning at noon on Sept. 15, 2014. The road closure is expected to last about 2 weeks. During the repair project no vehicles will be allowed past the powerhouse. A secondary access route to the campground, via Forest Service Road 655 to the Trail Bridge Bypass Road, will remain open only to high-clearance, four-wheel drive vehicles. The secondary roads to the campground and reservoir are not suited for passenger cars, motor homes or vehicles towing trailers or fifth wheels. Due to primitive condition of the roads, recreational vehicles and vehicles towing trailers are prohibited.
Campground is typically open with full fees and services from the beginning of fishing season (late April) until the end of elk hunting season (mid-late October).
These dates may vary so if you are planning a visit during the spring or fall please contact the McKenzie River Ranger District for updated information.
