Palisades - Calamity Campground

Campground will Open 5/15/2015

Calamity Campground is located at the north end of gorgeous Palisades Reservoir at an elevation of 5,700 feet, just 55 miles east of Idaho Falls, Idaho.  Lodgepole pines, various conifers, aspens, and maples partially shade the campground, and summer wildflowers dot the area.  The Calamity Boat Ramp is within walking distance of the campground with a large parking facility, restrooms with changing areas and three Day Use Sites.  Palisades Reservoir offers excellent boating, waterskiing, swimming, and canoeing; fishing is a very popular activity as well, with wild and stocked cutthroat trout being the predominate species.  Brown trout, Kokanee, and Mackinaw can be found also. Swan Valley and the South Fork of the Snake River offer more great fishing and boating, as well as numerous trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and ATVs.  Please visit the Maps & Publications website for more detailed hiking and motorized use maps. Calamity Campground has 40 single units and 1 double site within three camping loops; all sites have picnic tables and fire rings with grates. Some sites have a few stairs from the parking spur to the site pad. Roads and spurs within the campground are gravel.  A full-time campground host is located on site, and firewood is available for purchase.
