Grandview Campground is nestled in the Pinyon-Juniper forest 5 miles south of the popular Schulman Grove of ancient bristlecone pines. 23 campsites.The campgound is spaced on two loop roads with ample shade at each site. It is a very popular site for star gazers and astronomy groups as the night sky is very dark. While the campground is free there is a fee tube for maintenance donations, suggested at $5.00 per night to help with expenses such as toilet pumping and cleaning; table maintenance and so on. No water or trash service and limited firewood at this facility, use is on a first come, first served basis - no reservations. While the campground does not technically close, snow conditions may make access difficult in the winter as the White Mountain Road (access to the campground) is not maintained for winter travel.  Call for information 760-873-2500.

Information Center: Grandview Campground is popular amoung astronomers as the night skies are very dark and only low hills surround the campsite.  Campers are asked to restrict their campsite lighting to only what is needed at their immediate site in order to preserve and enhance this beautiful setting.

General Information

Directions:

From Big Pine go east on Highway 168 approximately 12 miles. Turn left on White Mountain Road and drive 5 miles.  The campground will be on your left.


Accessibility:

Sites are level and not rocky but not hardened for accessibility.


General Notes:

This campground has spaces that are big enough for large RVs although the road to the site is narrow and steep in places.  A donation box is available for maintenance donations.  A suggested donation is $5 per site per night.  Campers are asked to restrict their campsite lighting to only what is needed at each site to preserve and enhance the beautiful dark night sky.


Parking:

Each site has room for one vehicle.  Some sites can accommodate 2 vehicles.
