Kane Ranch Allotment Management Environmental Assessment (EA)

Forest Service project to re-evaluate and re-align the Allotment Management Plan for Kane Ranch operations on the Kaibab National Forest to address changes in vegetative conditions and provide adaptive, flexible grazing rotations for 10 to 20 years.

Nankoweap Trail Closure (CE)

Closure of up-to four (4) miles of existing, low-usage trail within the Saddle Mountain Wilderness Area.

Goshawk Demonstration Plot(s) (CE)

Demonstration Plot(s) on approximately 65 acres to improve timber stand and vegetative structure for wildlife habitat, within the ponderosa pine forest.

Recreation/Interpretation Trail between Stone and Steel Dams (CE)

The proposal is to make a connecting trail from Stone Dam parking area to Steel Dam. The trail would be about 0.35 miles in length and would be a standard/terra trail for non-motorized use. There would be one or two interpretation areas with kiosks.

X Fire Reforestation (2011) (CE)

The Tusayan Ranger District proposes to plant ponderosa pine seedlings on up to 876 acres encompassing the moderate to high severity burned area of the X Fire. Where necessary, seedlings will be protected from browsing.

North Kaibab Travel Management Project (EA)

Identify and establish a motorized road system on the North Kaibab Ranger District and publish a motorized vehicle use map

Plateau Facility Fire Protection Project (EA)

Fuels reduction project at multiple sites on the North Kaibab Plateau

Rainbow Rim Extension (CE)

Conversion of up-to seven (7) miles of unimproved road (i.e., old unused timber road) to a hiking and biking trail.

Bill Williams Mountain Restoration Project (EIS)

The purpose of the project is to improve the health and sustainability of forested conditions on and surrounding Bill Williams Mountain by reducing hazardous fuels and moving vegetative conditions in the project area toward desired conditions.

Jacob-Ryan Vegetation Management Project (EA)

The Jacob-Ryan Vegetation Management project proposes management within the ponderosa pine cover type, to improve northern goshawk habitat and to strive towards a restoration of the desired ecological condition at the landscape level (i.e., and un-even aged forest which is sustainable) as directed by the Kaibab National Forest Land Management Plan (April 1988 - as amended), otherwise commonly referred to as the Forest Plan. The JR Project Area lies within the North central portion of North Kaibab Ranger District.

Aspen Restoration Project (CE)

Protect and restore aspen stands by thinning competing conifers and protecting regenerating aspen from ungulate browsing.

Russell Vegetation Management Project (EA)

Non-commercial thinning and burning on appox. 8,000 acres.

Carlow Investors, LLC Sandstone Quarry Operations (CE)

Carlow Investors, LLC's Plan of Operations for the quarrying of sandstone.

Highway 64/180 Wireless Communication Sites Project (EA)

Const. a self-supported tower, up to 150' tall, at the existing Tusayan Comm. Site. Const. a 150' tall tower on the east side of Hwy 64 six miles south of Tusayan in T29N, R2E Section 24. Modify the KNF Forest Plan to designate the two Comm Sites.

Irishman Dam Allotment Environmental Assessment (EA)

Allotment analaysis for Irishman Dam Allotment

Status: Analysis Completed

Greenway Trail and Parking Lot (CE)

Allow the Park Service to construct and maintain a parking lot and trailhead on FS lands at the north end of Tusayan. Construction would also include building approx.1 mile of non-motorized trail from the new trailhead to Grand Canyon National Park.

Tusayan Travel Management (EA)

VANE Minerals Uranium Exploratory Drilling Project (EIS)

The project proposal would conduct exploratory drilling at 24 different sites

DIR Uranium Exploratory Drilling Project (EA)

DIR Exploration, Inc. proposes to drill a maximum of 20 separate exploratory drill holes distributed over 7 different claims, or project areas.

Highway Hazard Tree Removal (CE)
