The ecosystem ranges from towering snow-capped peaks to wide-open sage basins. Pivotal to the economy and communities of south central Oregon, this 2.3 million acre forest is known for its many recreational opportunities, scenic vistas and wild places where visitors can still find solitude.


Please Don't Drive on Wet, Muddy Forest Roads

Forest Service Road Damage

To ensure public safety and prevent damage to unpaved roads, the Fremont-Winema National Forest urges the public to refrain from driving on soft, muddy unsurfaced Forest Service Roads.

Firewood Permits on Sale Starting April 1


Personal-use firewood permits on sale at all Fremont-Winema National Forest offices. Firewood cutters need to pay special attention to the terms and conditions of their permit.
