Volunteering at Midewin

Whatever your interests and abilities, we could use someone like you at Midewin!  Come by yourself and make new friends among our many dedicated volunteers or bring a friend for an invigorating day outdoors.  If you want to be part of making the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie more than just a spot of green on the map, below are just some of the things you can do as a volunteer for restoration, ecological monitoring, education/outreach and recreation.

Position descriptions are posted at each link below

Join restoration assistants for planting, brush cutting, harvesting seed and more.  Volunteer days are scheduled every Thursday year round, rain or shine.  We have occasional Saturday events too.

Monitor and report back on the state of Midewin's birds, butterflies, frogs, plants and streams.

Help spread the word about Midewin's unique history and mission; lead youth education and stewardship activities; engage the public with special programs and tours; and create a fun experience for Midewin's visitors!

Help improve recreation experiences for visitors on our 30+ miles of trail.
