Glenwood Springs, Colorado – Reconstruction of Battlement Reservoir # 3 will begin on Wednesday July 6, 2011. This will be the third and final phase in the Battlement Reservoir Project, a project that began in 2001. The initial work is to remove snow from Forest Service Road 847 in order to mobilize heavy equipment up to the work site. The public can expect temporary delays and muddy conditions until the road dries out. The work is expected to last from early July until mid September 2011. Throughout the duration of the project, the public should expect some short delays in order to safely access the site with equipment and/or supplies. No full day or multi day closures are expected at this time.
According to Glenn Adams, Rifle District Ranger, “The reconstruction of Battlement Reservoir Number 3 is a cooperative venture between the White River National Forest, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Colorado Water Conservation Board, Colorado Trout Unlimited, Grand Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Bureau of Reclamation. The purpose of the project is to provide a fishing opportunity for the public.”
