Pumice Vegetation Management Project

The Forest is preparing an environmental impact statement for the proposed Pumice Vegetation Management Project. This project was developed to address deteriorating forest health conditions, increasing hazardous fuel conditions, and reduced ecological diversity all caused by a century of fire exclusion and past management activities. The proposed action will treat approximately 6,473 acres within the 9,056-acre project boundary. Comments received within 30 days of the publication of the Notice of Intent in the Federal Register are assured consideration in the next phase of project planning. Publication in the Federal Register is anticipated to be on November 10, 2011.
