Castle Mountains Restoration Project

This project is designed to restore various forest and grassland ecosystems to promote landscape resiliency over time to minimize the threat of high intensity wildfire within the Willow Creek municipal watershed and areas of other valued infrastructure and resources in the Castle Mountains. Various silvicultural and prescribed fire treatments are being proposed to meet project goals. There are no proposed new system roads. Road maintenance, road reconstruction and temporary road construction would occur. A notice of intent to prepare an EIS for this project was published in the Federal Register on February 19, 2015. Mailing of a scoping notice to interested an affected parties is complete and alternative development is pending.
