Littlerock Reservoir Sediment Project - Notice of Public Meeting
The Palmdale Water District and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service are seeking comments on a Draft EIS/EIR for the proposed Littlerock Reservoir Sediment Removal Project. Written comments will be accepted for 45 days following publication of a Notice of Availability in the Federal Register. The comment period will be from May 13 – June 27, 2016. Public meeting is schedule to be May 19, 6-9pm at the Palmdale Water District, Board Room (2029 East Avenue Q, Palmdale, CA 93550). San Gabriel Mountains National Monument Plan and Land Management Plan Amendment
The USDA Forest Service has completed portions of an Environmental Assessment for the proposed San Gabriel Mountains National Monument Management Plan. The portions of the document available for public review are Chapter 1, Introduction, and Chapter 2, Proposed Action and Alternatives.
This document is available for public review, but the Forest Service will not respond to any comments on the document at this time. The document is provided in advance of a formal public comment period schedule for July/August 2016, to give the public additional time to review and understand the proposed plan before submitting official comments. The Monument Plan will be adopted as an amendment to the LMP. Please click on the document links below for details on the project.
Every Kid in a Park
As part of President Obama’s initiative to get “Every Kid in a Park,” 4th grade classes are eligible to receive reimbursement for transportation costs when visiting the Angeles National Forest and San Gabriel Mountains National Monument. In addition, the Forest Service can provide programming in an outdoor classroom setting for groups of about 100 students. Protection of the Arroyo Toad promoted the closure of the Little Rock Recreation Area which extends from Joshua Tree Campground to the north, to Sulphur Springs Campground at the south, east along Alimony Ridge, and west to a point just east of the Desert Marksman permit area. This area will be closed to ALL USE until further notice.
