Welcome to the Stanislaus National Forest, where you can fish in over 800 miles of rivers and streams, stay in a campground, or hike into the backcountry seeking pristine solitude. You can swim near a sandy beach or wade into cold clear streams cooling your feet while lost in the beauty of nature, raft the exciting Tuolumne River, or canoe one of the many gorgeous lakes. You can ride a horse, a mountain bike or a snowmobile. Clearly the choice is yours in the special places of the Stanislaus National Forest.

Motorized Travel Management information, maps and documents for the Final Environmental Impact Statement phase of the project are currently available.

Motor Vehicle Use Maps display roads and trails that are open for motor vehicle use by the public on the Stanislaus National Forest. The free maps also display public and private land ownership, plus any seasonal closures or restrictions by vehicle type.

Fire Employment Information

The Stanislaus National Forest currently has 13 vacancies in a variety of fire positions.
These positions are located on the Stanislaus National Forest and are on the Calaveras, Groveland, Mi-Wok, and Summit Ranger Districts.

 

Bishop Mule Days Celebration

Forest Service Region 5 participated in Mule Days

By Forest Public Affairs Officer Jerry Snyder--What began as an informal gathering and a test of skills, Bishop Mule Days has grown into a world renowned celebration and competition of the best in mule packing and related expertise. This year's Memorial Day weekend 41st Mule Days celebration saw a huge Forest Service presence in 2010. Region 5 participated in a large number of events and proudly displayed a parade contingent over 2 blocks long.

Personal Use Fuelwood Permits are now available for purchase at Stanislaus National Forest offices. Fuelwood season officially begins Wednesday, April 1 and will continue until November 30.
