The South Park Ranger District consists of 456,599 acres mostly located in Park County with a small portion of the district located in Teller County. The district office is located in Fairplay, Colorado. The main highways through the district include Highway 285 south of Kenosha Pass to Trout Creek Pass and Highway 24 from Florissant, Colorado, to its intersection with Highway 285 at Trout Creek Pass. The district ranges in elevation from 7,100 to 14,285 feet, offers splendid scenic beauty, numerous recreational opportunities, timber, grazing, and minerals.
***South Park Ranger District campgrounds are CLOSED, except Riverside***
All campgrounds on the South Park Ranger District will close on Monday, October 3, 2016.
The water will be turned off at all campgrounds, except Riverside Campground in Elevenmile Canyon, on Saturday, October 1. Riverside will remain open, with water, until mid-October.
The upper gate on Jefferson Lake Rd. will close on November 15th. However, it might close sooner if there is sustainable snow.
The lower gate on Jefferson Lake Rd. will close December 1st . However, it may close sooner if there is sustainable snow.
**Christmas Tree Time!!**
The South Park Ranger District will sell district-wide Christmas tree cutting permits in Fairplay and Lake George on several dates beginning Nov. 25 and continuing through Dec. 23.
Permits can also be requested by mail to South Park Ranger District, Attn: Christmas Tree Permit, P O Box 219, Fairplay CO 80440.

Mail-in requests will be processed and mailed on Nov. 18.
Cutting is district wide, refer to map handed out with permits for excluded areas.
Forest roads are not plowed. Four-wheel drive and chains may be needed in some areas.
The South Park Ranger District does not run out of permits. Once the permit is purchased, trees can be cut any day from Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Eve.

South Park Tree Cutting Frequently Asked Questions
**Echo Beaver fuels management work will begin on Monday, October 17, 2016**
The EchoBeaver fuels management project will be implemented soon on the South Park Ranger District. This project area is located on National Forest near Echo Valley Estates and Beaver Valley Ranch. The project is bordered by Park County Road 98 to the north, Park County Road 100 to the west, private land to the south, and by National Forest that wraps around the Echo Valley subdivision. Via coordination with the Contractor, Markit! Forestry LLC, hand thinning operations will begin Monday October 17th, 2016 in unit 141 (see attached map).
Mastication units are tentatively projected to begin at the beginning of November and logging operations are to begin spring 2017.

** Road Closure Schedule for Tarryall Creek Rd (CR 77)**
Tarryall Creek Road is currently under construction from mile marker 27 to mile marker 34. Construction activities will affect access to Spruce Grove Campground and the following Forest Service Roads adjacent to CR 77: 896, 212, 212A, 204, 206, 77A
Road work hours are from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Traffic will be held at the beginning and end of the road work as well as at all roads accessing CR 77 within the project area. Traffic will be allowed to pass through the project with a pilot car only at the following times:
6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 12:30 PM, 2:30 PM, 4:00 PM, 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 7:00 PM, 8:00 PM.
Traffic will be free to pass between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
**Forest Service Road 659 in Beaver Creek and 669 in Crooked Creek are closed to all Off Highway Vehicles including ATV’s, UTV’s, and motorcycles that do not have a state license plate. This closure has been in effect since 2010.**
