Developing Proposal

Bonham Winter Trailhead

Project involves the improvement and/or possible relocation of the Bonham Winter Trailhead to increase parking, improve traffic flow and address safety concerns.

Cold Springs Ranger Station Improvement

Project is to make improvements and repairs on buildings and infrastructure associated with the Cold Springs Ranger Station. Project involves upgrading the water system, installation of a solar system and a variety of maintenance items on cabins.

Colorado Public Broadcasting Communication Use Lease Amendment

Forest Service proposed to amend the existing communications use lease held by Colorado Public Broadcasting to allow installation of a propane tank and back up generator at the Mesa Point Communications Site.

East Fork Spring Creek Private Road Permit

Issue a special use road permit to a road users association for use of closed NFSR 536.2A to access private land.

Grand Valley Ranger District-Fence Projects

5.25 miles of fence will be constructed in 3 different locations on the Uncompahgre and Grand Mesa to improve grazing management and /or reduce recreational conflicts. Cattle guards will be installed at fence crossings on ATV trails and roads.

Henkel Trust - Access Road (from CR 763)

Application for access to private land over existing driveway connecting to CR 763.

Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness Visitor Use Plan

In response to ongoing resource issues and in conformance with the 2002 Forest Plan, the Visitor Use Management Plan addresses implementation strategies to allocate numbers of overnight groups based on the wilderness areas visitor carrying capacity.

Mesa County Sheriff's Posse - Recreation Event Permit

Conduct a one-day horseback poker ride for 25 participants to support local search and rescue operations in Mesa county Colorado.

Pearson (Dennis) - Existing Road NFSR 764

Application for access over existing two-track road. NFSR 764.

Western Anglers - Outfitter and Guide Permit

Proposal to offer summer commercial outfitter and guide services on the Grand Mesa National Forest. The proponent has identified summer fly-fishing trips on specific lakes and streams (Bull Creek, Granby Reservoirs, Young's Lake, Leon Creek)

Aspen-Sopris Ranger District Five Year Recreation Event Special Use Permit Issuance

Issuance of five year recreation event permits to authorize 11 recreation events to operate on the Aspen-Sopris Ranger District. Events have been authorized in prior years under temporary permits. Events are running, mountain bike, jeep, and ski.

Axia Energy II, LLC, USA #1-16SC Well Pad Expansion

Expansion of existing USA #1-16SC well pad, drilling two new wells on the well pad, and construction/installation of approximately 1.37 miles of buried natural gas and water lines along the Buzzard Divide Road (NFSR 265).

Baxter Gulch Trail #565

This project is part of a Public Lands/Private Lands partnership to reconstruct the old Baxter Gulch trail from near the town of Crested Butte to an intersection with the Carbon Trail #436.

City of Ouray Domestic Water Supply Permit

Amend existing special use permit for City's Domestic Water System in Canyon Creek to remove facilities no longer in existence and to add new facilities

Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) - Proposed Teo Drainage & Summer Use Improvements

CBMR has formally requested site-specific review and analysis under NEPA procedures for elements of the Master Development Plan that was accepted by the Forest Service in 2013. See item 23 for more information.

Cunningham Ditch Reconstruction

Reconstruction of Cunningham Ditch will consist of relocating the ditch's head gate, reestablishing flow through a slightly altered ditch location, piping through spots to allow continuous flow and cleaning and clearing existing ditch.

Divide Salvage

Removal of dead and dying Engelmann Spruce trees killed by Spruce beetle to promote safety and reduce long-term fuel build up in areas severely impacted by spruce beetle to limit the likelihood of a catastrophic wildfire.

Enlargement of Monument No. 1 and Hunter Reservoirs

Proposal to enlarge existing reservoir.

Federal Coal Lease Modifications COC-1362 & COC-67232

The Forest Service is considering consenting to BLM modifying ArkLand’s existing federal coal leases COC-1362 and COC-67232 by adding 1,722 cumulative acres to them.

Gateway Canyon Resort-Outfitter and Guide Permit

Gateway Canyons Resort has requested a priority use permit to conduct outfitter and guide trips on specific Forest system roads and trails on the Uncompahgre National Forest. Commercial activities proposed are day hikes, fishing and jeep tours.

Greenwood Trail Re-route

Trail construction & repair. Due to high water existing trail has become difficult to negotiate; ATV users have become stuck and have attempted to find a different route. Vegetated areas have suffered damage and denuded areas have caused water issues

Iron Fen Restoration / Kebler Pass Road Repair

This project will work to restore the ground-water and surface flow hydrology and native vegetation of a portion of the Mt. Emmons Iron Fen that has been impaired by reopening and extending a ditch.

Jobe Road Easement Reissuance

Reissue expired Private Road Easement to Hutch Jobe, son of prior easement holder John Jobe.

Keystone Portfolio Mgmt. Forest Road Permit

Issue Forest Road Permit for us and maintenance of Blowout Road NFSR 871.2b over NFS land.

Manzo Private Road Easement

Issue private road easement for existing two track road to private inholding off Spring Creek Rim Road.

Miners Creek Inactive Mine Safety Closure Prjoect

Install grate, backfill or PUF on open shafts; install grate, bulkhead or backfill open adits. Up to 23 closures. Location is Mineral Point area, San Juan County.

Morgan Special Use Permit

Issuance of a Special Use Permit to authorize use of an existing road for access to private land and for the installation of a gate.

Mt. Emmons Mining Company Road Special Use Permit

Authorize use of an existing roadway on National Forest System lands for access to ranch facilities on private lands.

North Butte Allotment Fence Construction

The proposed action entails constructing 0.85 miles of fence within the North Butte Allotment, tentatively during the summer of 2016. The fence will be a laydown structure in conjunction with following wildlife friendly specifications.

Ohio City - Pitkin Fuels Reduction

The addition of a 31 acre unit to a previous Ohio City - Pitkin Fuels Reduction analysis--creating a fuel break. Treatment of the unit will include: thin ladder fuels below 6 ft., remove trees under 8 in. in diameter, and pile/burn all cut material.

Owl Creek Gravel Pit Expansion

Develop a pit development plan to expand existing gravel pit.

Pitkin Travel Proposal

Pitkin Trail Advocates have submitted a proposal to revisit 2010 Gunnison Basin Federal Lands Travel Management decision regarding specific routes near Pitkin, Colorado.

PSC of Colorado - NFSR 888

New construction of 6,655 Ln. Ft. of underground electric distribution cable within existing flow lanes of NFSR 888. Cable area will be 10 Ft. in width, buried to a depth of 24-36 inches. Cable will be open trenched and/or plowed into place.

Consolidate Qwest Permits with other districts on GMUG.

Reissue expiring permit for spring development - Peck

Issue a special use permit to replace an expiring permit for spring development located east of US Highway 550, north of Ouray.

Taylor Park Silvicultural CE

Precommercial and commercial thinning, and sanitation of dwarf mistletoe infested lodgepole pine stands to maintain acceptable growth rates and stand health on up to 250 acres. Project is in Taylor Park between Cottonwood Pass Road and Willow Crk.

Telluride Snowmobile Adventures Base Camp Proposal

Proposal by Telluride Snowmobile Adventures, an existing Forest Service Outfitter-Guide, to move his snowmobile base camp to a location on NFS lands immediately north of the FSR 632/Hwy 145 intersection.

Thistledown Small Tracts Act Land Exchange

Rockbiter Corporation has made an application to exchange lands with the United States Forest Service under the authority of the Small Tracts Act. The exchange contains approximately 25 acres of National Forest for 125 acres of private lands.

Tri State Skito - Crested Butte Permit

Re-issue permit for existing HS KV transmission line

Tri-State Montrose-Nucla-Cahone Transmission Improvement Project

Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc. is proposing to rebuild the existing Montrose-Nucla-Cahone 115-kV transmission line to operate at 230-kV. The BLM is the lead agency and the Forest Service is a cooperating agency.

Highway 149 South Salvage Project

Morning Star Mine and Surrounding Area Adit Closures Project

Paonia Cavity-nesting Bird Habitat Enhancement 2016

The Paonia Ranger proposes to implement a set of cavity-nesting bird habitat improvement projects including "bluebird boxes" and creation of cavities in heart-rot aspen)on National Forest System Lands in the Black Mesa and Muddy Creek areas.

Restrict travel on the Uncompagre National Forest

Willow Creek Bridge #1 and #2 Replacements

Replace structurally deficient Willow Creek Bridge #1 on NFSR 765 approximately 1.85 miles east of NFSR 742 and Willow Creek Bridge #2 (approximately 3.25 miles east of FS Road 742)at the existing bridge locations and move utilities from bridges.

Porter Special Use Permit Reissuance

Reissuance of a Special Use Permit authorizing a spring development and approximately 453 feet of water transmission line. The waterline delivers domestic water to the permittee's private property along Tomichi Creek near Whitepine.

Western Area Power Administration Right-of-Way Maintenance and Reauthorization Project

Update vegetation management activities along 278 miles of transmission lines located on NFS lands in Colorado, Nebraska, and Utah. These activities are intended to protect the transmission lines by managing for stable, low growth vegetation.


Governor Basin Ore Removal

Issue Road Use permit to Revenue Mine to haul ore from private land to millsite.

Mt. Emmons Groundwater and Associated Data Investigation
