Region 1 includes national forests and grasslands in Montana, North Dakota, northern Idaho, and sections of northwest Wyoming and northwest South Dakota.

Region 2 encompasses national forests and grasslands in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and most of South Dakota and Wyoming.
