Region Forester for the Pacific Northwest named

 

The Pacific Northwest Region, headquartered in Portland, Ore., manages 24.7 million acres of public land in Oregon and Washington and contains 19 national forests, one national grassland, and the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. “As deputy regional forester with program responsibilities for recreation, lands, minerals, fire and aviation, human resources, financial management, information management and acquisition management, Linda has demonstrated a thorough knowledge and strong management skills in both natural resource programs as well as business operations functions,” said Chief Bosworth. 

 

A native of Washington, Goodman started her career with the Forest Service as a receptionist on a ranger district. She graduated with a bachelor of science in management from Linfield College in Oregon. She also studied forestry at Oregon State University. In accepting her position, Goodman said, “I’m honored to be selected as the regional forester for the Pacific Northwest Region. As a steward of the Pacific Northwest’s national forests, national grassland and national scenic area, I am committed to seeing healthy and vibrant forests, forming strong external partnerships, and creating a work environment filled with people committed to serving the land and the people of the great Northwest.”
