• Fremont National Recreation Trail #160

  The Fremont National Recreation Trail, also known as the Southern Oregon Intertie Trail, traverses most of the length of the Fremont National Forest from north to south.

  In the north it begins at Yamsay Mountain and makes its way south over Hager Mountain and along Winter Rim to the Warner Mountains where it joins the Crane Mountain National Recreation Trail #161. From that junction visitors can either continue north on the Fremont National Recreation Trail to Vee Lake or take the Crane Mountain National Recreation Trail #161 south to the California border and beyond.

  Open to the following uses: hiking, horsebackriding and mountain biking.

  The Fremont National Recreation Trail #160 has three main segments: Fremont National Recreation Trail #160 Northern Segment, Fremont National Recreation Trail #160 Middle Segment and ​Fremont National Recreation Trail #160 Southern Segment.

  The northern and middle segments pass near the towns of Silver Lake, Summer Lake and Paisley, OR and terminates near Lakeview, OR at Cox Pass. The Southern segment is along the crest of the northern Warner Mountains.

  Local conditions vary widely across the seasons and segments. Due to forest fires and beetle-infected areas in past years, some segments near Winter Ridge area may be hard to distinguish. Other segments are outstanding but very primitive.

• Aspen Point Campground @ Lake of the Woods

  Located approximately 40 minutes west of Klamath Falls Oregon, Aspen Point Campground offers many amenities.  This scenic campground is located on the northeast shore of Lake of the Woods. It features 58 camp sites with a camp host.  Within the total campsites, 50 are RV sites, eight double campsites, seven tent only campsites, and one group site. 

  There are five restrooms (maintained May 1st though October 1st).  Improvements at Aspen Point campground include durable aggregate around every picnic table and fire grate to diminish overall dust and dirt.

  Visitors can enjoy motorized and non-motorized boating activities, fishing, bike riding, swimming, as well as the nearby amenities of the Lake of the Woods resort.

  Aspen Point Campground has an adjacent Day Use Area for picknicking and accessing the High Lakes Trail which leads to Fish Lake.  Boat launch facilities, docks, and parking are available between the day use area and campground.

  Located 40 minutes west of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Sunset Campground provides 64 camp sites and a camp host. These campsites include picnic tables, and fire rings. All 64 camp sites provide RV parking (although there are no hook-ups available) and two of the campsites are ADA accessible.

  There are three renovated restrooms, one for each loop, with electric flush toilets, running water, and automatic hand dryers. Nearby, the Lake of the Woods Resort offers dining options, boat rentals, and basic supplies.

  Sunset also has a day use area, tucked in next to the campground and ideal for boating. Besides its  picnic tables, boat ramp, and boat trailer parking spaces, there is a compact, gravelly beach perfect for swimming. The day use area is a great spot for campers and non-camping friends to meet up for a day of water recreation on Lake of the Woods. Visitors can enjoy both motorized and non-motorized boating activities, fishing, bike riding, and swimming.
