OHV Trail Riding

The Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) is a black and white map without topographic features. It is not a stand alone map and is best used in conjunction with a Forest Visitor Map or other topographic map. The MVUM is free to the public at each local Ranger District office and at the Humboldt-Toiyabe Supervisor's Office. The MVUM is available on this website and sections of it may be printed from your home computer.

Carson Ranger District
The Carson Ranger District office is located in Carson City (pop. 54,414), which is Nevada’s capital. The District lies in seven counties including Carson City, Douglas, and Washoe in Nevada and Alpine, Nevada, Lassen, and Sierra Counties in California. The Carson Ranger District encompasses over 400,000 acres in the states of Nevada (135,632) and California (270,260). Lake Tahoe lies just to the west of the district boundary. The District includes 406,292 acres of urban interface area west of Reno, Carson City, Minden and Gardnerville in Nevada and more remote rural areas in eastern California.

Ely Ranger District Office
The Ely Ranger District office is located in Ely (pop. 3,968), Nevada. The District also lies in Lincoln, Nye, and White Pine Counties. Located on the eastern edge of Nevada, the Ely Ranger District is around one million acres. The District has some of the most rugged backcountry on the Forest. Its nine designated wilderness areas offers a solitude-filled backcountry adventure for those looking to be a self-reliant traveler.

The Mountain City area on the Mountain City-Ruby Mountains-Jarbidge Ranger District lies approximately 84 miles North of Elko, Nevada on Nevada State Route 225 or 12 miles South of Owyhee, Nevada on highway 225.
Santa Rosa Ranger District
The Santa Rosa Ranger District office is located in Winnemucca (pop. 7,788), Nevada, and lies in Humboldt County. Largely undiscovered, the Santa Rosa Ranger District is over 280,000 acres. The District is a local favorite and contributes significantly to the rural economy of northern Nevada.
