Disc Golf
The Kootenai National Forest has three Disc golf courses.
Timber Beast in Troy
Tight trees, many ace runs, creek in play on 3 holes, feels like a rain forest. 18 baskets on a crushed stone course.
Getting Here:
West on Hwy 2 into Troy, go over Callahan Cr. to next right, then another right into museum parking lot. 1st tee at east edge of lot throwing towards river.
Libby Disc Golf Course in Libby
18 holes through trees
Getting Here:
North on Hwy 37, turn right into the J. Niels Park. First tee begins by the walking path.
Libby Dam outside of Libby
The course will begin near the Libby Dam Visitor Center parking lot. Plans call for two alternate starts on the first hole – one that allows participants to throw back toward a hillside and another near a visitor center overlook area where participants can throw down toward the same basket.
The course features loops through the woods and eventually takes players down along the lake. Later on, it hooks up with an old Libby Dam construction road where players will have some long, clear shots.
There are some challenging holes, some fun things, elevation changes and fairly long shots that are 500-feet plus.
Getting There:
Travel 17 miles north on Hwy 37, via Forest Development Road 228
