In the foothills, manzanitas and California lilac frost the hills with white and blue, while lupines and buttercups create tapestries of blue and gold. A little higher in elevation, redbuds and dogwood trees are roadside showstoppers in late spring. In the higher meadows and glades, a variety of daisies and penstemons create an everchanging summer parade, and set the stage for an autumn show of elderberries, acorns, golden maples, and scarlet dogwoods.
