Horse Riding

Visitors bring horses to ride the many trails of the Modoc National Forest.

The Modoc National Forest offers many opportunities for riding horses.  The Warner Mountains and the South Warner Wilderness are the most popular areas for late summer and fall riding.  For riding  in the spring and early summer, the Devil's Garden and Big Valley Districts offer lower elevation choices that clear of snow and mud long before the mountain roads open.  For tips on taking your horses safely into the forest click here...
