  • Cohutta Wilderness Closures Partially Lifted, several trails remain closed

    Due to a significant wind and flood event on July 21, trails on the north end of the Cohutta Wilderness are temporarily closed to the public. The closure area includes a large number of blown down trees that present a hazard to visitors. The closure includes Jacks River Trail and several other trails. 

    Cottonwood Patch Campground, a portion of FS Road 51 and several trails on the south end of the Wilderness have reopened. has partially reopened up to the 'burnt schoolhouse' area to allow hunters to access the forest.
